This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students enjoy a community with long-standing traditions and a rich history. Our school was established in 1915, and our families are proud that multi-generations have attended the same high school. Our school was geared to vocational studies for many years but has since diversified its curriculum to enable and encourage multiple educational paths.

My students understand the importance of education in both honoring the past and creating a bright future for our society.

Although many of my students have seen hardships, they are always eager to learn, curious about the world around them, and want to make a difference.

My Project

Students will feel as if they have traveled back in time as they read about and dress like the flappers and gangsters of the Roaring Twenties. The project includes a variety of books about and popular in the 1920s like The Great Gatsby and The Weary Blues by Langston Hughes. As we study the Twenties, students will wear Fedora hats and feather headbands to relive life in the Twenties.

My project is meant to provide my students an unforgettable glimpse into the Roaring Twenties.

I hope to make history come alive by providing historical materials for my students!
