Harvey's Angels

My students need answer boards, an electric pencil sharpener, answer buzzers, and dry erase markers. My students need the classroom mailbox to help me keep multiple math classes work organized. Each will be able to have their own organized space for their classroom assignments.

My Students

My scholars give me purpose and strength to always push through. I teach at a school that is considered low economic and disadvantage. Most of my scholars are limited to their neighborhood, meaning they usually don't have the opportunities to observe or see a positive environment. Most live below the poverty line and see a lot of crime activity on a daily basis. I want them to know there is whole world out there beyond their current circumstances.

Hurricane Harvey was devastating to us here in Texas.

However, I am instilling in my scholars “what doesn’t break us only makes us stronger”. Our school didn’t receive much structural damage , but the last month have taken its toll on my scholars more from a psychological and emotional stand point. Some are without the day to day necessities, they so desperately need. Due to the financial strain on their family being displaced from their homes. So, that’s why I want my scholars to come to school feeling like this is their safe haven (no worries) and focusing on learning with a growth mindset. . My scholars are the FUTURE!

My Project

Scholars will be using the whiteboard quick answer boards and dry erase markers to aid me to check for understanding and address misconceptions. As well assist my shy scholars, who normally wouldn't raise their hand to respond to questions, plus have the confidence to do so. The classroom mailbox will help me establish organization among multiple math classes, at the present time I have no storage for my other math/science scholars to keep their work or classroom folders. The colored code trays with assist me, as an instructor to stay organized with my color groups (Red,Blue, Yellow, and Green). When scholars are absent or having make-up work, this will be a easy and convenient way for scholars to take ownership of their assignments. Also, a high quality pencil sharpener will allow my scholars and I to sharpen multiple pencils before the pencil sharpener get too hot and quits, like our current one.

Building Confidence is Building Knowledge.

Scholars who feel good about what and how they are learning tend to become more engaged with the lesson. I feel the materials I'm asking for will provide scholars the tools needed to show mastery with the curriculum. As well as provide them with the sense that limited resources will not be an obstacle for me or hinder my achievements.
