it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The best and easiest way to describe my students is that they are survivors. My class is a dual language kindergarten classroom and I am charged with teaching them Spanish Language Arts and Math. I will have two classes each consisting of 21 highly motivated and fully charged five-year-olds. My children and their families have been hit hard by Hurricane Harvey. Many of my families had to be evacuated and our school sustained a lot of damage. We will have to teach out of another location. My kids are ready to be in school but now I have to reinvent a classroom for them.
My Project
In my original classroom, we had five iPad minis for my students to listen to stories and play educational language arts and mathematics games. Since our school was flooded during the Hurricane Harvey we lost what took me many years to put together in resources. The iPad minis, headphones, cases and screen protectors will allow my students to sit anywhere in the room and listen to their favorite story. The extra headphones will be used on a computer which hopefully we will receive at our relocation site.
I want my children to have some kind of technology at our relocation site and iPad minis are the best and easiest type of tablet for my kindergartners.
We only have a CD player in our room right now. Teachers have not even received a laptop since Harvey hit. My students deserve to have some type of technology for their own use.
