My students need lakeshore learning tools that will help them explore, engage, and experience, literature along with math and science to helping them learn independently.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My city, school and students were disrupted and effected by Hurricane Harvey. We as a campus are doing what it takes to make life normal again and reflect and try to rebuild daily in the lives of our young scholars. Each day, scholars come ready and eager to learn exciting new things. I will continue to do whatever is takes for all of them to be successful and equipped socially and academically.
Scholars still need opportunities to invest and empower their academic mind set through literacy, math and science.
Scholars yearn for hands-on explorations that will facilitate thinking and learning. I always strive to find innovative ways to teach my scholars and families. I continue to find ways to connect the whole child and continue encouraging them to love school. We must teach families that education breaks all barriers.
Ninety-five percent of our scholars qualify for free or reduced price lunch. This means that they are living either on or below the poverty level, as well as having English as a second language spoken in the home. Despite scholars living in poverty and having a high population of students with special needs, scholars have the willingness to be a successful.
My Project
My kindergarten scholars are readers, mathematicians, scientist, authors and explorers! They arrive to school ready to work hard and learn new things. They are always excited to walk in the door to see what new content they are going to explore with their peers.
The Lakeshore hands on learning activities will challenge my scholars daily to become better academically and invest in their own learning.
The resources requested are well organized and ready to go which is handy for a teacher. My scholars will utilize the requested resources such as Picture Slides for the Light table and leveled literature with real world animals and landforms. This will allow kinder appropriate visual aids to be viewed and enhance to research their findings / record in their reading and writing notebooks. The possibilities of academic learning are endless everyday in order to engage my scholars learning potential.
