My Project
We plan to expand our outdoor garden. The outdoor storage would give us a place to hold our supplies. The greenhouse will help us start our seedlings early so we can harvest more. We can plant carrots, radishes, and turnips multiple times for harvesting with the help of the greenhouse. Heat lamps will help keep the plants at the perfect temperature until we can transplant them. The outdoor water spigot is far from our garden. The longer hose will enable students to water the garden without having to lug buckets of water to the plants.
Our students have harvested food on a small scale previously.
We used fresh produce to supplement our school food pantry. We want to enable students to grow their fresh produce. This project will include students learning how to incorporate fresh produce into their diets with recipes they can execute.
Occupational therapists also bring children into the garden to use the garden in therapies. Students who have texture aversions will be exposed through play and exploration.
