This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classes are full of African American and Latino preteens who are smart, curious and love to take on the challenge of learning new and interesting things. As they prepare themselves for a successful future, it is imperative that they have materials that would provide them with access to compete against their peers. Having a plethora of reading activities and decorations in the classroom environment at their fingertips will help them combine the skills they already have with the knowledge they are acquiring and truly become advocates of change. The items I've requested will help me transform our classroom library into a mini Hogwarts where my students can immerse themselves in our fantasy unit, and create things like news reports to broadcast and publish their fantasy and non-fiction literacy work.
