Harry Potter STAAR Review

Help me give my students an engaging and relatable way to prepare for the STAAR test! The more memorable I can make this time, the more likely it is they will remember the content and skills for STAAR!

My Project

Think back to your school years. Which activities stuck with you the most? Which were the most impactful? My goal with this project is to boost engagement with my students by making my STAAR review Harry Potter-themed.

Each item on this list will help create a magical world for my students.

They will leave the chaotic middle school hallways and step into the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Students will be sorted into houses based on their needs and abilities. Then, houses will compete in a series of competitions to win the house cup! The twist? Every competition is specifically designed to prepare them for the STAAR test. For example, when they attend "Defense Against the Dark Arts," students will have to answer questions correctly to escape the dementors. The group in last place will get snatched away by a dementor (my special education aide) to receive targeted instruction in a small group.
