Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students go to school and live in an environment where many people encourage them to do things besides reading. When they see a book they can get excited about their whole perspective changes.

Ninety-nine percent of the students at my school live below the poverty line.

Their parents work into the night and they baby-sit their younger brothers and sisters. They have a hard life, school should be a place where they can get some relief. Reading is one of those places where you can get that relief.

My Project

I want books that my kids will fight over. I want Goosebumps, Harry Potter and Diary of a Wimpy Kid Books that they can explore and enjoy. I picked these books because they are series books which will allow my students to continue exploring them if they like them.

This project is incredibly important to my students and to me, because it is the gift that keeps on giving.

If you inspire students to read books that they truly enjoy, that is a skill they will have for the rest of their lives.
