I teach Environmental Science to an amazing group of high school juniors and seniors. They come from all different backgrounds and have varying levels of abilities, but they have one thing in common...they are interested in learning about the environment and how they can do their part to make planet earth a better place for everyone.
In Oklahoma we have lots of sunshine and lots of wind so they are very interested in how we can use those renewable resources to generate energy in a sustainable way.
My Project
As juniors and seniors, my students have endured two and a half years of Covid interfering with their learning, but more specifically in their lab science classes. Covid has taken away fun labs, group work, collaboration, even sitting next to someone.
We've learned about natural resources and, more specifically, what natural resources Oklahoma has to offer-lots of wind and lots of sunshine-the solar and wind kits are a perfect way to get my students outside and let them use their hands and minds to make connections about what we've learned in class.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
