This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic and amazing kids from the south side of Chicago. Most of the kids I teach are faced with challenges in their lives, both at home and at school. As their music teacher, I hope to help my students by encouraging them to express themselves in positive ways.

My students love music class because they get a chance to share a creative experience with their peers.

Our school is run on a bare bones budget, and funding for the arts is just not there. Your donation would help to provide a quality musical experience for deserving students.

My Project

Our after school drumline is a new program this year, and the students are SO excited about it. I have had to turn kids away from the program who wanted to sign up due to lack of equipment.

This set of quads would allow for one more deserving student to join the group.

I can't believe the amount of effort the kids have put into drumline. I have never seen kids at this school work so hard, and with such great teamwork! We marched around the school and played cadences last Friday after school, and you could see the pride the students felt as passersby and parents honked and waved, cheering them on.

This drumline has already brought so much joyful music to this neighborhood. This set of drums would make that impact even greater.
