Help me give my students a different way to learn - by seeing and touching - using a hands-on digestive system model.

My Students
My students, in this low-income/high poverty inner city school district, live in an area where drugs, gangs, and unemployment run rampant. My classroom is full of a large group of diverse students, with varying interests. My classes are a group of amazing students that come from a variety of cultural backgrounds yet receive free lunch. They are learning to find balance between school, family obligations, and work.
My students are imaginative, adept, and curious.
This is because they are looking for simple joy in their lives. Finding activities they are excited about can be a challenge. However, I find that they are willing to try anything. My goal is to captivate them with fun and positive activities that can be remembered and used for the rest of their lives.
My Project
Imagine with me, if you will, the perfect classroom. One that would be filled with every supply imaginable the curriculum teacher could dream of. These supplies would help in the creation of fun, interesting, practical, and engaging lessons. Lessons that leave a lasting impact on the students and their learning.
Sadly, most school systems do not have the money to provide every need to every classroom.
However, by helping to provide the use of this digestive system model to the classroom, you provide a wonderful tool the students can use to create that lasting impact on their learning.
This digestive system model will be used in Health, Biology, and Anatomy/Physiology classes. There is so much that can be taught and information retained when you have hands-on activities for students. The addition of this model is another step towards outfitting our Sciences Department with the equipment needed to create those effective lessons for students who need to know about their bodies, and for those who want to pursue a career in the medical field.
