My Students

Imagine being an 8-year-old in a room filled with books that took you around the world? My students often express that the only time they have seen some animals are in books. The students I serve are loving and caring children that love to read and learn. My students' favorite time of the day is DEAR time because they get to sit quietly and read silently. A new level library could take my students places they have never been because my students rarely get to travel outside of their neighborhood.

My Project

With a wide variety of books my students will be able to choose something of interest and lose themselves in a different world. Our library hasn’t been updated in years and new books would be a great gift for children to learn about other cultures and children their age. My students love reading but often get discouraged because the books that they want to read are already checked out of the library or are not available at our school. If we have a wide variety of genres my students would read more and enjoy what they are reading during independent reading time.
