My students need a reading experience with historical/realistic fiction books about Chinese New Year as we work through our multiple genres for the year.

My Students

Our students are very creative and energetic young learners! They are excited about new lessons and activities that involve them as an active learner. Working together and sharing their thoughts on many books and activities are one of their favorite ways to learn.

I love to see my students' eyes light up when they learn something new or when something just "clicks".

Many students find learning more meaningful when they become part of the lesson. This project will allow my students to discuss and see multiple perspectives of the stories they read. We have a wonderful group of students at our school that would be grateful for this learning experience.

My Project

My students are learning about the various genres of literature. We will be learning about Chinese New Year as we read some historical/realistic fiction books. We are very limited in the books we have covering this topic and we do not have multiple copies of the same book.

This project will provide various books for my students to choose from.

Students will read the books independently, in pairs, and in small groups. Having multiple copies will allow my students to read in small groups and to discuss their reading. This promotes a better understanding of the text and allows the students to see multiple perspectives of the story.
