My Project

My Project

I have worked at my school for 11 years and have had the pleasure of working with some really amazing students.

One of the many admirable qualities of my students, which I have encountered year after year, is their dedication to their schooling. When we return from winter break, I want to show my students the beauty and uniqueness of the Chinese culture and traditions of the Lunar New Year. Every day I want to share videos, music, read-alouds, and artifacts with my students to create a high interest and an inclusive curriculum that remains respectful of cultural differences.

This year we will host a school-wide event inviting the students and community to learn about the Lunar New Year.

Through understanding various cultures and social groups, students can connect from their own lives to the lives of their peers. Students will be invited to an after-school event, to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The decorations, such as the large paper dragons, banners, and lanterns will be hung up in the center of the campus to bring the festivities to life. Students will be invited with their families to participate in a gallery walk, displaying student work about the traditions and customs of the Lunar New Year, and the Asian countries which celebrate the holiday.
