This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a teacher of 35 spunky, energetic, and curious kindergarten students. They come from many different social and economic backgrounds. Many of them are learning English for the first time.
My students arrive to school with an open mind and willingness to learn something new everyday.
Each day is a new experience for my students and myself. Each child that enters my room is unique, special and talented in their own way. There is nothing better than seeing that aha moment when the light bulb finally turns on.
My Project
Young learners are very comfortable using technology in many aspects of their lives. It is very hard to compete with an iPad or a tablet when it comes time to sit and work.
Making manipulatives, and displays attractive can capture students' attention and aid in engagement during a lesson.
A Cricut Maker will enable us to make manipulatives and materials that are colorful and attractive, and, most of all, meaningful because they will be student inspired creations!
We will be able to make our very own class t-shirts inspired and designed by the students themselves. This project will help build a sense of community, and belonging. It will also give them a sense of pride when wearing their creations knowing that they were an integral part of the creative process.
We will be able to make materials for STEAM lessons. The Cricut Maker will also be shared with other teachers in the building who may need to create visual aids to support their students. It will also make the classroom print-rich and more inviting as well!
