This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Oh, the places my students could go, if only they had more books in their home environment. Will you help me put reading resources and/or materials in their hands?

I am a fourth grade teacher to an amazing group of young children.

They live in a community stricken with a high level of poverty. The school they attend is classified as a Title 1 facility and most qualify for the free lunch program. This does not hinder the excitement of learning new things. They are always eager to please me which makes my day such a pleasure.

My Project

Every school year, our school celebrates Dr. Seuss' birthday. Therefore, the selected books and book marks will be given to each one of my students to take and keep in their homes. The hope is to increase reading fluency and enhance comprehension skills. But, most importantly is to develop a love for reading. The hat cut-outs will be utilized on Dr. Seuss's day by the students.

By your contribution and help with funding of this project, you will be a very vital resource of putting books in the hands of a very deserving group of children that have limited or no reading materials in their homes.

You will help open door to a place many of my students have yet to go.
