My students need writing station activities such as a prompt box, a story flip book, word family picture wheels, magic boards to practice writing stories, work mats for station time, and books about American Symbols.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 22 hard working, silly, and amazing first grade students in a small East Texas town. They love to work with hands-on activities, make creative art projects and play games. My students do not respond as positively to worksheets or seat work activities as they do to physically manipulating the words, letters, or manipulatives.
My students love to work in centers or sing songs to learn new concepts.
I strive to make my classroom a fun and exciting learning environment.
My Project
My students would benefit greatly from all of these additions to our station time in 1st grade. The writing prompt box and flip book will help them expand their creativity and become great writers. The part, part, whole work mats will allow them to work hands-on with manipulatives to discover new concepts in mathematics. The paint and construction paper holder will help them in their art station to be creative and organized. The American Symbols books will be a great addition to our Social Studies lessons so that they can learn more about this great nation that they live in!
These additions to our station time will help keep students actively engaged in learning as they work to become better readers and writers.
They would be so excited to have these items as additions to our classroom.
