Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Over half of my students are second language learners and over eighty percent of them receive free or reduced lunch. As these students receive instruction in English, many of them are balancing the difficult task of learning English at the same time as learning grade level standards. In addition to this balancing act some of my students walk into the classroom counting on the meals that are served at school. Although my students walk into our school/classroom with hardships that they cannot control they have a desire to learn. With this desire they find confidence within themselves to be resilient in life.

My Project

In Colorado we are approaching the cold winter months. Many of the students at our school walk home and are unable to afford winter gear. This project will give every student at my school a pair of gloves for the winter season. That would be 415 students who are impacted with something that many individuals take for granted! By providing every student a pair of gloves they will have one less struggle to overcome. Please support this project with a donation so that my students are able to have a pair of gloves and stay warm during our winder season.
