My students need access to a high quality, research based, pre-writing educational program. They need a Handwriting Without Tears kit, a Wikki Stix set, easy grip tweezers, a scissors set, 2 Learn to Write boards, a Callirobics kit, and a set of gel writing boards.

My Students
Help us save our kids from anymore tears! Do you remember learning how to write? Perhaps the skill came easily for you, but for many it does not. This is especially true for the students in my Special Ed Pre-Kindergarten class.
Our class is a Pre-K for students between the ages of 3-5 with special needs.
Their disabilities differ, but most are placed on the Autism spectrum. We are located on an elementary school campus and are the only Pre-K in the district.
My students have their days, planned full of interventions, assessments and therapy sessions. They are all such little troopers that face great difficulties daily. When they come to school, I want them to be excited and happy. School should be challenging, but there's no reason it can't also be fun!
Despite their disabilities, the students in my classroom are just like any other preschooler. They love coming to school and exploring their environment in hands-on ways. We love music, dancing, and art (especially the messy kind!), but our favorite time of the day is story time! If you were to visit our classroom, you would probably be introduced to our favorite book, "Pete the Cat," within the first five minutes of your arrival (probably sooner!).
My Project
Many of our students lack the muscle control and attention to participate effectively in traditional writing programs. The class set "Handwriting Without Tears" program provides a hands-on, tactile approach, appropriate for all ability levels. This method of instruction allows for children with "visual, perceptual, fine-motor and other processing problems to write neatly and legibly." The magnet sets will allow students to form letters without ever having to pick up a pencil. One set of Wikki sticks will be a fun way for kids to form letters in a very hands-on way that does not require advanced fine motor skills. I have requested a tabletop organizer in order to keep our new writing supplies organized and accessible for the students. The class Callirobics set combines writing activities and fun music for preschoolers learning to write. The products requested are all designed to meet the different needs of children in order to help them become writers. What's better than that?
Your donations will help give my students a chance to be successful in developing handwriting skills.
My students love books, literature and the alphabet. They are very interested in written word, especially when the writing is about them. Some of my students are nonverbal, and writing may be an opportunity for them to finally express themselves. We very much desire a way to provide a meaningful, and fun way to encourage the fine language development necessary for writing. Thank you so much!
