My Project
Each year I get a handful of students who are ready to begin their school life journey. They start off in my room getting familiar with new faces and begin meeting new friends. Then we move onto learning about our classroom rules and touring the center! This is where the fun begins! Every center has slowly been getting enhanced from fellow donators who contribute to projects here on donors choose. I appreciate everything and everyone who has helped build my classroom over the years. Now onto why I have chosen these items. Our writing center is very tiny. It actually does not exist in my room. This current/past school year my students have not visited the center once. They neglected it. Of course the size of the center is tiny. Its just a small shelf area with some paper and a few alphabet flash cards.
This coming school year, I want a writing center that encourages the child to want to come over and engage with a friend or two!
I am asking for a double sided table top easel. One side of the easel is a dry erase board that's magnetic for those letters that usually stick on a refrigerator door. On the other side is a flannel board. This would be beneficial because we could velcro some vocabulary words to encourage writing! Another item I have asked for is a letter construction set (mainly trying to get the boys to enjoy the writing center just as much as the girls)! This set will encourage students to "build" the letters using straight lines and curvy lines.
I want to see my children thrive, and I feel like these items will encourage them to want to explore the writing center. Thank you and have a great summer!
