My Students

My students come into my classroom each day with champion attitudes and an eagerness to learn. As a teacher at a low-income Title I school, my students are faced with various challenges that impact their education. They come from diverse backgrounds and speak a variety of languages. Everyday in our classroom I make it my goal to help my students to feel proud of who they are and what they can do.

My students are curious, creative, and energetic.

They love to move, explore, and use hands-on tools when learning. Many of our children are raised in single family households and receive free breakfast and lunch daily. These factors play a large role in determining their future. I want my students to flourish in school and develop a strong love for learning. With the proper supplies, tools, and materials, it is my hope that my students will build a lasting love of learning that will follow them and inspire them to be the best they can be.

My Project

In first grade, I believe one of the best way to reach students is through educational play and hands-on games. These materials will offer my students hands-on learning experiences that are developmentally appropriate for their growing minds.

Students are filled with joy and a sense of excitement when they learn through games and authentic experiences.

The Sight Word Puzzles and 4-Letter Word Building Puzzles will be used for the beginning readers in my classroom. These puzzles will allow students to confidently build their words independently or as a team. Splash! Reading Games, Big Boggle, and the Roll & Write Word game is a great way to engage my high flyers in literacy centers. Students will be able to challenge each other while also learning together. All of these materials promote teamwork, collaboration, and strong readers through hands-on materials!

The Young Architects Design Blocks, Large 800 Piece Straws Builders Construction Building Toy, and Brain Flakes will allow my students to explore building and STEM activities. Allowing students to use their inner creativity to construct designs will help motivate and drive their learning. These tools are great for project based learning activities and fostering collaboration. After students design and build, I will integrate these activities into writing and reading instruction. Students love to write and learn about topics that inspire them!
