This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Learning world history can be an uphill battle when the classroom lacks the necessary and basic tools. Additional resource books and easel Post-It pads will provide students with academic access and make learning fun and engaging.
The majority of my students are socioeconomically disadvantaged and many of these students do not have access to computers and the Internet outside school.
Additionally, we have a large English Language Learner population. Our school is a small public charter with an enrollment of about 425. With continuing budget cuts, neither our school nor I can afford to purchase these much needed teaching tools.
My Project
The subject of World History can be complicated and a bit dry when the only book of reference is the textbook. As such, students need additional resource books. Additionally, when students work together in a collaborative atmosphere, learning can be fun and engaging, as well as learning other basic skills of cooperation and teamwork.
My students need these items to help bring history alive.
Additionally, students will become more involved in their own education, allowing them to connect past and current events. Thus, my students will have access to a higher quality education.
