This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My Kindergarten students are always anxious to learn new things. They come everyday expecting to use engaging tools that increase literacy. Watching them experience the joy of feeling accomplishment when the "light of literacy " goes on is amazingly rewarding. Reading is a valuable skill that will lead to a successful educational journey. During the COVID-19 pandemic students could not interact with teachers who demonstrate the letter-sound relationship as clearly as necessary. The paddle boards will teach 5 and 6 year olds how to blend letter sounds together, decode words, and then write the words with dry erase markers!

Some of my students are experiencing a classroom environment for the first time.

Creating a level "playing field" for prepared and under prepared student is my goal for this project.
