Help me give my students books, stencils, sorting bowls, and manipulatives for learning foundational skills such as numbers, counting, shapes and letters.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our classroom is filled with eager 4 and 5 year old transitional kindergarteners and kindergarten learners ready to tackle the building blocks of reading and math that will build a foundation for the remainder of their schooling. Research has shown that children learn best when they are engaged in developmentally appropriate experiences and activities: play!
A developmentally appropriate kindergarten environment can support children socially and emotionally and foster positive relationships with peers and adults while helping them to build a foundation upon which all other learning will occur.
In an effort to help students learn both letters and letter sounds I am requesting a Letter Recognition Instant Learning Center, a Wikki Stix Alphabet Center, Alphabet Rubbing Plates, a Magnetic Letter Board, a Magnetic Alphabet Tracing Board, Construct a letter center, and a Letter Tracing Sensory Pad.
The trace & Write Number Center, Wooden Number Tracing Board Set, Frog Balance Counting activity, Tactile Numbers, Number & Counting Rubbing Plates, Construct a number center, Magnetic Number Tracing Board, and Sensory Number Trays will assist with number recognition, numeral formation and building a solid foundational number sense.
The Shape Sand Molds, Pattern Blocks Sticker Sheet, Shape Stickers, Shape Sorting Center and Wooden Shape Sorting Puzzle will build foundations of geometry.
And the Plastic Bowls, Dot Marker Alphabet Books, and Letter and Number Maker Set will support letter, number , and shape recognition.
The wide variety of hands on tools in this project will give students a variety of ways to build, manipulate, create, and interact with letters, numbers and shapes to build a foundational mastery of these critical reading and math skills.
