My Students
There is never a dull moment in my classroom with the bright, funny, creative individuals I have the pleasure of teaching. My students are middle schoolers with significant cognitive disabilities.
All of my students have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that address their broad range of academic, communication, social and functional needs.
My students come from a wide variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. One common thread is their enthusiasm to show up every day eager to take on new challenges. My students love to come to school and it is my joy to get to be their teacher.
My Project
My students are very tactile learners. These Osmo kits will enable them to learn how to navigate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts at their own instructional level. My students have shown me that they are capable and motivated by activities involving coding concepts. Many resources at their grade level are too abstract but Osmo is the perfect resource for them.
The hands-on nature of these Osmo Genius Kits and Osmo games will help my students understand abstract concepts in a concrete way.
I plan to utilize these tools in reading, math and science class. This project will provide them with individualized learning opportunities that will bring them so much joy they might not even realize they're learning!
