Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from all over the world and are eager to learn. I teach students who are primarily learning English as a second language! My students work SO HARD!
Like all kids, my students deserve an equal opportunity of high quality education.
My school is also a Title I school- almost 99 percent of my students receive free lunch. Some of my students come from generations of poverty. I want to give my students the resources for the education they deserve to help them build a better life.
My Project
We are requesting a variety of creativity sparking, hands on building materials! My students LOVE to play with Play Doh as emerging innovators. Providing them with Magnatiles, Snowflakes, and other building supplies will provide another way to engage their brains!
Knowledge is actively constructed!
I want to provide more hands on exploration. We will use these materials in separate boxes at each table for students to start their mornings. Students will be able to build and explore as they please. I will also provide some guidance with ideas to challenge them to build outside of their comfort zones.
We know students need to be prepared for the future, which means prepared to be creative innovators and designers. Education is no longer through pencil and paper. Our classroom needs more ways to explore and build with hands on materials!
