My Students

These materials are for a new group of 4th graders next year! My favorite part of teaching is helping my students develop a love for learning! Our school is amazing, and it is a very warm and inviting place. We have a wonderful community of teachers, parents, and students working hard every day to help everyone succeed.

My school has a very diverse population of students and families.

We are located in what some call a bedroom community, because parents work farther from home. Some of our students are low income, English Language Learners, come from single-parent homes, or are living with other guardians. It can be challenging meeting the needs of the varying abilities and backgrounds of the students, but it is something I enjoy doing. I am looking to instill a love for learning in my students.

My Project

It's not just about ideas, it's about making ideas happen! With a 3D printer my students will be able to take their imaginations, their creations and inventions and make them come to life! My students will learn how to use the software to design everything from brag tags for their necklaces to a newly invented animal or insect. We will use the 3D printer to make math tools and manipulatives to help them better understand subjects such as fractions and measurement. Art isn't just with paint, but with technology too.

Working with the technology will help my students become better digital citizens as they interact with other students online to create projects. They will build relationships with younger students by teaming up to create a school mascot using the 3D printer. Talk about hands on learning!
