This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My Spanish for Heritage Speakers students come to class with a strong foundation in spoken Spanish, having learned the language at home. However, many of them have had limited opportunities for formal instruction in reading and writing Spanish.

These students take great pride in their bilingual and bicultural identities.

They are excited to build their Spanish literacy skills in a school setting where their heritage is celebrated and nurtured.

The materials I’m requesting—chart paper, pocket folders, and laminator pouches—will help transform our classroom into a more interactive and engaging space. Chart paper will bring movement and collaboration into lessons. Pocket folders will support student organization and ownership of their learning. Laminator pouches will allow me to create durable, reusable materials for group activities, learning stations, and gallery walks.
