This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Children learn best when they actively participate in their learning. Many of my students do not have the opportunity to have many hands on learning experiences.

I have a group of curious second and third graders that get excited about learning when I provide them with hands on experiences!

They attend a public inner city school in California. Many of them do not have the means to visit our local zoo or museums to learn first hand about science. Many of my students do not have books at home to support their learning and inspire their curiosity.

My Project

It is truly a magical experience to see a caterpillar transform into a beautiful butterfly! With the resources this project will bring into my classroom, students will learn about animal life cycles, habitats and their impact on our environment. These resources will inspire my curious scientists to continue to explore the world around them. My students need a butterfly habitat with live specimens so that they can learn first hand about animal life cycles. They also need books to support science inquiry.

These resources will spark a desire to continue to inquire and explore.

They will bring the outside world into our classroom and into their lives. They will show students that science is all around us.
