My Students

I teach both 7th and 8th grade science classes in rural South Carolina. I also teach STEM, an elective course designed to let students use science, technology, engineering, and math to solve problems. Sometimes, it is difficult to get my students engaged in learning, so I try to incorporate lots of hands-on activities and projects. In addition to science, I try to teach my students basic skills they need for academic success such as organization and study skills.

However, our school is a Title I school, which means many of our students live in poverty.

They lack basic supplies such as paper, pencils, colored pencils, etc. They do not have the means to provide extra supplies, so they are usually purchased by me. We need some new classroom supplies to provide the best educational experience I can for my students!

My Project

I have a lot of fun projects planned for my students! We are going to use models to identify the parts of different types of cells. We are going to do STEM projects and learn about hydraulics. We are going to build models of the cells with magnets and so much more!

We will have so much fun the students won't realize they're learning!

My students often have a difficult time grasping the concepts behind things they can't see or touch. So I'm going to make my most difficult unit more hands-on for them by using models. In addition, my STEM students will be able to practice digging and chiseling out dinosaurs while researching what they've found.
