Hands-On Science with 3D Printing

My Project

My 2second grade students are bright, curious, and full of questions about the world around them. They love learning about how the Earth works, why animals live where they do, how our bodies function, and how nature changes over time. But without tools that bring these big concepts to life, it can be hard for them to truly understand.

A 3D printer and filament will bring science to life for my students by turning abstract ideas into hands-on learning.

We’ll use the printer to explore everything from glaciers and polar bear habitats to the water cycle, mountain ranges, and the human body. As we study topics like Land and Water, Cycles in Nature, The Human Body, and Climate and Environment, students will design and build models that help them grasp big ideas in memorable ways.

Most of my students are hands-on learners who benefit deeply from visual and tactile experiences. For many, access to creative tech like this is only possible at school. A 3D printer will not only enhance our science curriculum—it will also support STEM learning, creativity, environmental awareness, and problem-solving.
