My Students

Because of their urban lives, my 2nd graders come to school lacking much background experience with nature and science. Science incorporates math, literacy, and quite often engages students in a way that other academic subjects do not. But sadly, science often gets pushed to the back burner.

My 2nd graders are lively and smart.

They are natural scientists, curious about things around them and waiting for someone to show them their world! The majority of my students play video games inside their apartments because it simply isn't safe for them to play outside. They rarely see any animals other than pest insects, rats, and squirrels. What an opportunity we have to widen their horizons!

My Project

Bright, colorful, and engaging science materials will help me ignite a passion for science in my kids. The resources I've chosen come as complete kits, with coordinated activities and nonfiction texts that help kids explore our science units fully.

Did I mention that I plan science activities for the WHOLE 2nd grade?

So not only will these materials help my class, they will have a direct impact on the entire 2nd grade at our school! That's quite a few future scientists we're inspiring together!
