Hands-On Science Lab Experience

My Students

My students are curious 5th graders. As a math and science teacher at a Title I school, I look forward to providing opportunities they may not have elsewhere. It's been such fun to see them question, test and try as they explore their academics. However, we are in need of more materials so I can provide smaller group sizes and more in depth lab experiences.

My students come from various backgrounds and include special education, English as a second language and economically disadvantaged populations.

I want to give them as many chances as possible while in my classroom!

My Project

This project will provide materials for science labs throughout our school year and can be reused for years to come! We need materials to study our plant and animal cells in greater depth. It's much more effective for our kids to see items instead of simply watching videos.

Another large unit for us is electricity and magnetism.

The ability to build these circuits and experiment will have a much greater impact on their understanding. Finally, we need materials to document our experiences and understand organizing thoughts with our interactive science notebooks! I cannot wait to see their faces as students engage with these labs!
