Hands-on Science in 6th Grade

Help me give my students hands-on science experiences in engineering design and in understanding genetics and why organisms look the way that they do.

My Project

Students in my 6th-grade science classroom are eager to learn about the world around them. They are working collaboratively this year to learn about cells, the human body, systems, weather, climate change, and genetics.

Our science learning also focuses on science practices and engineering design.

The genetics kits will allow students to have hands-on learning experiences as we learn about genetics this year. The fast plants will give them direct application of the learning we do. We will also create Reebop creatures to showcase our learning of genetics. I have requested other science supplies like pipe cleaners, cups, cardstock, etc.

All 6th graders in my science classes will grow as thinkers, collaborators and problem solvers with the addition of these materials in our science learning.
