Hands-On Science for the Curious!

Help me give my students the opportunity to make observations, work together and take pride in what they do, as they work together through a variety of problem-solving and real life, hands-on learning experiences.

My Students

My first graders are amazing boys and girls who are excited to come to school and are eager to work hard and learn new things. My students live in an urban area and face different struggles that affect their learning, including high poverty, special learning needs and language barriers. Our class works hard together to overcome these challenges.

Our school is a sixty year old, public school building where students always come first.

Our students learn to take pride in what they do as we work together through a variety of problem-solving and hands-on learning activities.

My Project

First graders love to watch and learn with animals. The incubator, butterfly Pavilion and Lady Bugs will allow the students to watch firsthand as real animals hatch and grow. The students will practice their writing and math skills as they write and graph their observations. The Code and Go Mouse Stem Kits will give my students the opportunity to work with a fun animal to learn the basics of coding, a little engineering and continue to expand their critical thinking skills.

With a large class of twenty-nine students, I love to use smaller groups to work on observations and simple projects that help them think and work together while learning about the real world around them.

The incubators, pavilions and Code and Go Mouse Stem Kits will be an exciting way for my students to work on their team building, observation skills, and critical thinking skills as they learn about the science world around them.
