My Project
Help our grade level teachers create kits that will allow for hands on science experiments in the Kindergarten classrooms. We complete four large science units per year, on the topics of Life Science, Earth Science, Physical Science, and Earth and Machines. Each unit has 2-4 hands on experiments to do with the students, and right now our teachers are buying the supplies for those experiments from their own money.
Hands on experiments make learning Science so much more engaging and exciting!
By choosing to help fund our project, you are bringing practical hands on experiences to Kindergarten students in a low income area. The wonder and joy on their faces as they discover how blubber helps keep polar animals warm by putting their own hands into a bowl of ice water with or without a coating of shortening makes a lasting impression on both the students and the teachers. Using painter's tape to spell their names, and then coating the paper with sunscreen before placing it outside on a sunny day to witness how the sun fades the paper that is not protected will help them understand the importance of protecting their own skin from the sun.
