Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a class of students age 6-10 with Autism. My students all come from high need communities. I teach them subjects from academics to social skills, behavior management, and life skills.
This year we started a science station in my classroom. Each month we have a new theme and experiment. It is hard to come up with experiments and activities when we lack essential science materials and our school does not have the funding to help us get them.
My students with Autism need specialized science materials in order to participate in and comprehend experiments and hands-on learning activities.
Since starting this station, science has become my students' favorite subject. You can help make it possible for my students to learn about science and make sense of the world around them.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
