My students need science demonstration kits and classroom materials to succeed. Science is a very hand-on class and the materials requested will make it easier to understand scientific concepts.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a low-income urban community. Having the opportunity to teach students that are curious and excited about their education is a privilege. Our school serves students that sometimes are not able to complete their work because they don't have the materials necessary to do so.
As a science teacher I will like to give my students the tools necessary to flourish as creative thinkers.
In the aftermath of Harvey, my students should have the chance to create and have all materials needed, available to them.
My Project
My students need materials to complete their daily lessons, but also science specific materials. These materials will help the development of scientific knowledge by making concepts concrete to my students. Students will be able to use the scissors and markers to create projects explaining scientific concepts. Also students will have the opportunity to see and touch materials that can help them understand the world of physics, concepts like Newton's Laws. Understand chemistry by working with volume. These materials will be part of a curriculum that could be considered complicated but by having hands-on activities it becomes a great way to learn and apply their knowledge.
