My Students

My students are courageous, curious, and confident. Our school is in a high poverty area. All of our students receive free breakfast, lunch, and a snack at school each day. Many days our students come to school with heartbreaking stories of their day to day lives.

However, my students do not let their circumstances define them.

They come to school each day ready to learn. They really enjoy learning and being in the community that is our classroom. We strive to make sure that they have all the resources available to them that they need.

My Project

My students are so excited every time they get to go to the STEM lab. It has become their favorite specials class, even beating out P.E. and art. This proves to me that the students love hands on learning.

Third grade should be about more than a standardized test.

I want to provide my students with more than just test prep and the high anxiety that comes with being a tested grade.

I am requesting the STEM Learning Labs and the Legos so that my classroom will be an active learning community. Our school does a great job with a STEM lab for the students, but they are limited to donated resources like cardboard and recycled water bottles.. I would like the STEM labs to be able to give them nice materials to work with.
