Hands-on Projects for Girls STEM

Help me give my students who are Girls Excelling in Math & Science club members a great experience with hands-on STEM projects like mousetrap cars, DNA necklaces, and microscope slides.

My Project

Girls have selected my club, Girls Excelling in Math & Science (GEMS) to be in an all-girl safe environment where we can explore concepts of STEM together. We will use microscopes to investigate how disease spreads and view ticks, mosquitoes, and bacteria.

Hands-on projects like mousetrap cars and DNA necklaces are great for learning STEM concepts and encouraging future careers in STEM.

All girls are in 6th-8th grade and they come to the club daily during the school day for 30 minutes. I will enhance our time together with already existing robotics equipment, programming and guest speakers from the community.
