Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in the epicenter of COVID-19 in Elmhurst, NY. They come from families who have many hardships including financial, emotional, and medical that have been present previously and have been worsened by COVID-19.
My students are eager to learn new ideas every day.
They are kind-hearted and have the motivation to want to come to school despite their hardships. Their smiles and energy keep the community together.
My Project
My students are eager learners and enjoy learning new concepts and want to be proud of their goals. The materials (word building tiles, magnetic dry erase boards, leveled libraries) will keep my students' engagement in learning how to read and write during in-person instruction as well as for use at home.
My class benefits from hands-on activities that will help them retain sight words as well as blend and segment sounds in words.
As the uncertainty of school closures continues, these materials will make a difference to help my students make progress in this academic year.
