I teach at Burgaw Elementary School, which is located in the rural city of Burgaw, NC in Pender County. We are a Title One school with over 73% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. I am currently teaching the first grade. I teach all of the first grade English as a Second Language (ESL) children.
I am seeking funding for a Phonics Tiles Classroom set. This is a kit that uses a hands-on approach to learning phonics. Children will learn letter-sound relationships through using letter and blend tiles. Because phonics sets the basis for learning to read, I truly feel with all my heart that this program will be of great help to all of my students. Some are really having a tough time learning phonics. I want my students to have as many learning tools as possible and I feel this would be perfect.
