Help me give my students the opportunity to increase their reaction time with the help of the reaction balls. Also, to fulfill the NYC Fitnessgram all students from grades 4-5 need to have their flexibility tested.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is located in the Bronx, where students are diverse and come from different backgrounds. Teaching physical education for grades K-5, I've come across students with all types of skill sets. There are students that have little to no skills because they don't have the resources to master the skills while there are other students who look as if they have a future in professional sports.
No matter what my students skill levels are my goal is to teach my students how to live a long healthy life through physical activity.
"Intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong.”
My Project
The materials for this project will help my students improve their fitness levels through goal setting. All students in NYC have to participate in the Fitnessgram. One of the components of the Fitnessgram is measuring the student's flexibility. Having the sit and reach machine will help students gain more accurate data on their flexibility and work on ways to improve it. Also, since the sit and reach machine is easy to read, students can take the initiative in helping measure their classmates. In addition, the reaction balls will help my students improve on their reaction time. Part of the baseball unit students are learning how to field a ball. The reaction ball helps students gained gameplay experience because they have to learn how to be quick on their feet and react to the direction of the ball.
Through your support and generosity, we can level the playing field for the less fortunate students and help them gain confidence.
We can make a positive impact in their lives that they might not get without the proper equipment.
