This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Play is a vital part of learning in a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classroom. It supports young children’s growth across all areas—academic, social, emotional, and physical. Through play, children develop important skills like problem-solving, communication, and cooperation. They strengthen fine and gross motor abilities, explore early math and literacy concepts, and learn how to manage emotions and build friendships. Most importantly, play allows children to make sense of the world around them in a way that is joyful, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate. Through the use of playdough, magnets, wooden blocks, and STEM straws, students can create letters and numerals (strengthens fine motor and memory muscles and letter and number formation). This tactile, multi-sensory approach helps children connect symbols to meaning, making early literacy and math more engaging and effective. In TK, play is learning!
Having access to a printer and laminator is essential for providing engaging, hands-on learning experiences for my students.
I regularly print educational materials such as alphabet and number worksheets, social schedules, behavior charts, center labels, art templates, and family communication tools. These resources help create a structured, stimulating, and inclusive environment that supports early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development. Without reliable access to a printer or laminator, it's challenging to prepare and personalize materials that meet the diverse needs of young learners in my classroom.
Health and hygiene are always a priority with the disinfectant wipes, which ensure that desks and supplies are regularly cleaned to keep students safe and healthy.
