Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in a low-income, high-poverty area. Many students are English Language Learners and need experience with the language. They may not have many opportunities at home after school or on weekends to practice their English skills.

All of the students at the school qualify for free lunches.

Many come to school hungry and tired because their families are concerned with affording day-to-day necessities. The school is a safe haven for many students. They need to create good working habits in order to succeed in the future!

My Project

One of the ways to retain knowledge is by hands-on learning! Engaging in math activities while doing the math will help with those concepts.

Students need engagement to stimulate and understand while learning new concepts!

If students need to learn numbers, they need to count. If students need to learn how addition works, they need to add. By engaging in the act of math such as counting, adding, and subtracting, students will be able to manipulate and engage in using manipulatives. To reinforce their learning, they can stimulate the brain by doing and learn at the same time. These manipulatives will help!
