Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These materials will provide tactile experiences that will help my students learn math skills. They will be used during math centers. The students will be using the Magna tiles to help them not only learn shapes but also use their imagination with STEM building activities. The 10 frames will be used during whole-class math instruction and also in small groups to help students with their addition facts and number sense.
Maria Montessori once said, "Play is the work of the child." In my class, this is especially true.
Using these hands-on materials during math centers encourages my students to be engaged in their own learning and also to collaborate with others. They are learning social skills as they practice math concepts. These activities also allow them to be proud of what they have created and learned which enhances their self-esteem.
