This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a class of mathematicians who are ready to learn!
The third graders in my class are an energetic bunch who don't shy away from a challenge.
They are loyal and caring toward each other and can often be found working together to solve problems.
We are a Title I school, which means that a large number of my students come from a low-income family. We have adopted a new leadership program this year to help teach skills for success in both academic and real-life instances. The goal is for the students to carry these skills into adulthood.
My Project
While some students understand mathematical concepts without manipulatives, many others need something concrete to hold in their hands to further cement their understanding. These manipulatives will be available to students during lessons and while completing assignments.
Having access to manipulatives will provide my students with hands-on materials relevant to what they are learning in math.
Giving these young minds objects to hold and manipulate will help them build deep understanding of math concepts to carry with them as they continue their education.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
