This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students will be learning math in a multi-grade classroom (Grade 1 and 2). My mathematicians will be coming into 2nd grade at different academic levels and with different abilities. These math manipulatives will be essential during whole group instruction, small group instruction, and math work stations.
The use of concrete objects positively affect how my students view, learn and experience math.
The counters will help students with 1-to-1 correspondence, while the ten frames and 120s charts will help students visualize and comprehend basic addition and subtraction. The base-ten blocks will give students a visual way to represent numbers.
