Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"For the future, primarily, we must educate people in science, engineering, technology and math." Buzz Aldrin
I teach 18 terrific third graders in a regular education classroom.
We are in a high poverty Title I school where the vast majority of students receive free or reduced price lunches. My students' struggles do not diminish their eagerness for learning. I set the expectations high, and my students strive to reach them.
My Project
The materials(magnetic money, fraction circles, activity stations, math games, etc.) that I am requesting are hands-on math manipulatives and activities to incorporate into our curriculum. These materials and learning activities work on building a concrete foundation to attach meaning to abstract concepts. From fractions to telling time to geometry, these materials will make my students successful.
These resources are just exactly what my students need to understand the math concepts taught throughout the school year.
Because some of what is taught are difficult concepts to grasp, hands-on work is best to help my children develop these abstract skills. With the addition of these materials, my students will be able to kinesthetically learn math concepts.
