Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
It's 8:25 and the students are buzzing around the classroom, getting ready for an exciting day ahead. The energy and excitement for the day ahead are palpable.
Our class is made up of 30 second graders who, above all else, love learning.
Whether it is reading, math, writing, social studies, or science, my students are ready to absorb and analyze new information. They learn mostly from one another as diversity permeates our classroom. This is evidenced both by the cultural, ethnic, racial, religious, linguistic and socio-economic backgrounds of the students as well as their unique interests.
My Project
Learning is always more fun when students are actively involved in constructing their own knowledge. Moreover, studies consistently prove the effectiveness of hands-on learning as students make sense of academic concepts through inquiry and exploration. In my classroom, students work collaboratively and think critically in applying their math knowledge to solving problems in our school, community and world.
By donating to this project, you will provide 30 curious second graders with the materials that make hands-on learning possible.
You will help the students develop not only their math skills, but also their communication, focus, and problem solving. In order to be self-directed and motivated learners, students need STEM resources and materials that make engagement possible.
